A member asked:

Why do i sometimes get sharp pains on the left side of my head? i've had this issue for years. i get tension headaches frequently. i don't always have the pain while having a headache. sometimes i'll get the pain with no headache. i have hashimoto's?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sharp, fleeting pains can occur with neuralgia and are due to irritability of superficial scalp nerves. They do not emanate from inside the cranial cavity, are more of a nuisance than any thing seriousness ahd they can come and go. If you still have concerns, consult a neurologist for evaluation and advice.
