I have a mechanical mitral valve almost 2 years in that time my inr has been up and down ( 10.3- 1.2) more low numbers than high. my warfin is always being changed, is that harmful to my body? and brusies with knots, sore muscles excessive sweating?

It is not harmful that the dose is being changed but you want to be at the right level as much as possible to keep your valve functioning with the least side effects. You need to keep your diet consistent because fluctuations in vitamin K can cause your levels to fluctuate-a nutritionist can help with this. When your levels are high, you’ll see more bruises. I still think and hope that the newer anticoagulants will eventually be cleared for use in patients with mechanical heart valves as they're so much easier to deal with, are effective and safer than warfarin. This would be great news for patients like you.
