The hole that you are seeing might just be the new nail starting to grow underneath.If you have no pain, you should just leave the nail alone. The new nail will grow underneath starting from the base and when there is enough new nail, the old will come off. Keep a bandage over it so it doesn't get caught on something and get pulled off too soon. If you're in pain, please see your doctor or the ER.

The purple and black discoloration is from blood under the nail. The more blood under the nail, the more chance the nail will separate. A dermatologist can determine whether significant damage to the matrix has occurred in which case the nail growth will be abnormal. It's worthwhile to have a dermatologist evaluate and advise you.
