This is clearly abnormal and could be quite important. Are you at risk for sleep apnea (e.g., heavy snoring, especially if you're overweight)? Discuss with your doctor, the sooner the better. Good luck.

You would need a sleep study to find out if this is accurate and why it is happening. It could be sleep apnea-either obstructive or central-and this would need to be treated to avoid complications including but not limited to heart or lung problems. So, it is very important that you get a sleep study to properly diagnose you so you can be treated. Call your doctor ASAP!! Best of luck to you!!

Agree with Dr. Ferranti. If you are overweight, it is imperative that you lose weight. Not easy, but essential. Reduce your intake of food and exercise more. Joining a support group like weight watchers may be useful. Wish you good health!
