We need some : Pediatricians learn to deal with loss like anyone else. You will study the stages of grief during preparatory courses & will find out how much you can deal with over time. The good thing is you seldom lose kids. But even if you can't fix/save them all, you're working to keep a family intact during the sad events & recovery from loss. Having compassion & understanding as they grieve helps you both.

Perseverance: None of us is perfect. We all are striving for excellence within our own fields. And in the process, we all tend to make mistakes. The goal is to feed upon your successes not failures. As long as we try our best not to repeat the same mistakes and learn from our pitfalls; that is all being a good doctor ( and being a good human being) is all about.

Loss: Every physician. Deals with child/patient loss differently. It is certainly not easy but i think that is part of what make us better doctors. To have empathy, to show compassion for not only the child but the families, to be human is what i think makes a good physician.
