If you experience neck trauma such as a motor vehicle accident, the size of the herniation might increase. However, there is European data to indicate, in many cases, that over 9-10 months, a herniated disc might dry out (desiccate) and shrink. Would advise conservative therapy such as P.T. if symptoms are not progressing.
