How long does it take for a stye to go way with meds? im doing a 5-day course of antibiotics (1 day is left), eyelid is still swollen, its been a week now. the pain is almost gone?

Styes are due to a blocked oil gland in the eye lid. though antibiotics may help, you should be using hot compresses 3x per day (a wash cloth in the bathroom sink, get tap water hot, wring out towel, apply to both lids for 1 minute until cloth cool) do not microwave! In addition, start taking oral fish oil tabs 1-2 per day unless contraindicated by pcp. If this does not work seek eye care.
