I had a breast ultrasound last month, that was clear. this month though i feel like i have found a new lump. would it have shown on ultrasound if there was something there?

You are young so breast cancer is very rare, do not worry too much. I assume you had breast ultrasound because of breast cyst(s). The cyst you feel now could be present last month but it was small so you did not feel it by then.
