A member asked:

My b12 level was 133pmol/l, supplement were taken for a month and tested the level one month thereafter; the new level was 208. 3 months later without supplement i tested again and the level has dropped to 114. what would be the cause? is reversible?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

There are many possible causes of low vitamin B12 levels, some of which can be corrected. Malabsorption in the stomach or small intestine is most common, but also some types of immune disorders can cause this problem which can result in pernicious anemia. Further evaluation is warranted to find the underlying cause.
