With even "mild" PCOS, ovulation is delayed, causing delays in menses of considerable duration. While taking oral bcp's, some protection against constant estrogen stimulation of the endometrium is provided, but punctuality is required to avoid "spotting". The bleeding from a bcp cycle is not a post-ovulatory event, and is usually mild.
