A member asked:

I have been prescribed famotidine which is often unavailable but available after about 3 weeks. is it safe to take omeprazole temporarily when famotidine unavailable. my gp has reluctantly prescribed both but only when famotidine is out of stock?

Since both are chemically similar, one prescription, and one OTC, you could use either on their own. Do not take both at same time. Confusing as to what is the problem here, and suggest clarification with your GP.
