A member asked:

I have barretts and my gp has prescribed famotidine and gaviscon advance due to the risk of stomach cancer with omeprazole. ultimately it is my choice which to take. which is most aggressive - oesophageal or stomach cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Barret's esophagus can be a precursor to esophageal cancer. I is best treated with sitting upright for at least 4 hours following your meals, avoid liquids prior to reclining. Omeprazole is good to take in AM and 4 PM . Gaviscon Liquid 30cc. at bedtime. Follow up with your PCP for assistance.
