The diagnosis of hypertension should be made only after repeated measurements as recommended by the various medical societies. A single measurement made without these precautions is unreliable. If confirmed,appropriate treatment should include salt restriction, weight reduction and regular exercise in addition to medications. Attention to detail is vital.
