Postinor 2 is an emergency contraceptive to prevent implantation of the fertilized embryo. The first pill is taken within 24 hours and the second 12 hours later. If the pills are taken exactly as directed, they prevent pregnancy 95% of the time. If taken any other way, the effectiveness can drop to as low as 58%. Take a home pregnancy test on the first day of your missed period.
