What are the potential side effects, including any risk ( likely very small) of developing cancer from targeted radiotherapy, are excellent questions to ask Neurosurgeon or Interventional Radiologist performing the procedure. It is never a bad idea to get a second opinion before surgical interventions Best of luck.

The surgical use of imaging is virtually unlikely to cause any statistical cancer risk, and should not dissuade the approach if all else has failed or there is a localized area triggering seizures. One alternative to be considered if not previously done, might be a Vagal Nerve Stimulator.
