A member asked:

I have a high risk pregnancy & have weekly checkups to check if there are any protein in my urine. my doctor picked up a spec in urine detected & said its dietary, i should lesson the amount of protein i consume, is there any dietary/protein advice?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Significant urinary protein along with possible elevated blood pressure (toxemia of pregnancy) can influence necessary timing of delivery. "Trace protein" in the urine is not necessarily serious or predictive of the future course of the pregnancy. For a "high risk pregnancy", it is helpful to have a referral to a maternal-fetal-medicine physician.
