Medications alone cannot control autism related emotional reactions. With the help of a therapist specializing in Autism, you can work with your son to determine how to best handle these meltdowns and how to prevent them. Avoiding crowds, loud noises, new stimuli and other triggers may help significantly.

Consult with your local applied behavior analysis & rehabilitative integrative sensory therapists to improve functioning. Also go to the local school district & request a full case study in writing. They have to perform a nursing, speech, social, occupational, physical & psychological assessment in 60 days and give you an individualized educational plan. Make sure GARS-3 & CARS-2 are included.
