A member asked:

I have a lot of saliva when i sleep and a red patch on the corner of my lips for 2 months which looks like angular cheilitis. would it help to wash it with anti-bacteria soap and apply hydrocortisone cream to it? or better another otc? how often?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Washing it with harsh antibacterial soaps can actually irritate it more. Use a moisturizing soap. Using the OTC hydrocortisone cream 2-3 times a day is a good idea to reduce the inflammation. You also may want to try plain old Vaseline in the involved areas at night to prevent further damage/ irritation.
