Hi doctors. my question is, since i was young if i would eat or drink cold foods or drinks & i were in a cold place or if i were cold it would send a shooting pain in my back. still happens and its sometimes hard to breathe. any idea why? advice?

It is well known that cold drinks, and occasionally very hot drinks, can provoke spasm in the esophagus. This can produce rather severe pain in the front of the chest or between the shoulder blades in the back. The duration of the pain can be seconds or minutes. If you have no other esophageal symptoms, the spasms are not due to serious pathology. I recommend avoiding drinking very cold liquids
