There is missing information in this post. How long may the tick have been present & not noticed ? What does the tick look like ? Are there other related skin findings ? Texas is not a prime area for Lyme disease but it can happen. Ticks need to feed for about a day before risk of this disease is considered likely. I would discuss this with the kids doc.
