In general, young people have the greatest neurologic input to the cardiovascular system (heart and blood vessels); this results in rapid fluctuations of ones blood pressure and heart rate. The loss of this input is noted in sick patients such as severe diabetics who have lost the neurologic connections to the cardiovascular system.
