Foul smelling urine can be a sign of a urinary tract infection in a small child. A physician can order a urine test to make sure and prescribe the correct antibiotics.

Foul smelling urine, in absence of fever or other symtoms in a baby can be sign of UTI, however, strong or ammoniacal smell can be from concentrated urine especially first thing in am after no fluid intake at night. Worth having urine checked to rule out infection. Good Luck.
