A member asked:

Recent stage 1 kidney cancer, kidney removed. 6 months later, follow up scans showed clear. shortly after, a tiny tumor appears in salivary gland. how likely is that the result of spread from previous kidney tumor? why didn't recent scans catch it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The tumor in salivary gland is unlikely to be related to kidney cancer. Scans can show lesions only if a lesion is present in the area examined. It is unlikely that you had a scan of your head during work-up of kidney cancer. Wish you good health!
