Digestion varies with type of food. The most easily digestible foods are the simple carbohydrates (candy) (1hr), followed by complex carbohydrates (whole wheat bread) (3 hrs). Foods containing protein (lean meats, eggs) will digest over 5-8 hrs and Fatty foods (high fat dairy, burgers, etc) can take up to 3 days. It is very likely that a slice of cheesecake can take 12 hours to digest.
