A member asked:

Had an iv bag replaced (arm) 4 days ago while sitting (was done by an intern) she didn't prime the hose and i saw 5, 1cm long air going into vein. felt strange in shoulder & behind chestbone. could this still cause an issue if it went to artery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Air emboli will cause immediate problems when present. There will be no risk if any such exposure occurred "4 days ago". However, suggest you handle your concerns directly with your doctor and discuss fully what you apparently experienced.
