A member asked:

Some people feel dehydrated when taking dextroamphetamine. does dextroamphetamine cause dehydration in terms of an actual loss of fluid or is the symptoms of dehydration caused by side effects like dry mouth and headache?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many medications have side effects secondary to anti-cholinergic mechanisms, and this includes dryness of the mouth. This is in no way a true dehydration, but consuming more fluids would be of value to manage this.
