A member asked:

Can you get covid-19 from a package that sat for a week?

No, in spite of prior concerns regarding infections secondary to contact with surfaces and materials, there are essentially no proven problems from cardboard, paper, wood, or packaging materials. Furthermore, the virus would not survive on a package that "sat for a week".

COVID 19 transmission is mostly through droplets with some through aeresolization. Surface contact is not a major mode of transmission. Per WEBMD, the virus may live on stainless steel - 2 to 3 days, a # of other metals -5 days, Aluminum - 2 to 8 hrs, Copper - 4 hrs, wood - 4 days, plastic -2 to 3 days, cardboard - 24 hrs & glass - up to 5 days.
