Mine and my youngest have had bowel movements that smell like chicken soup for about a month now. is this normal?

A smell like chicken soup isn't so bad unless you're a vegetarian (just a little medical humor). While I can't say that I've ever come across anything like that, the most likely cause is something in your diet. Think about any changes in your diet, foods, medicines or any ingestion that is different over the past month. Not likely to indicate anything serious.
