Sudden development of a painful breast lump is usually caused by a blocked duct. In non breastfeeding females debris.in the duct may be the cause. If the pain resolved it means the duct has cleared. If there is redness,swelling and pain,mastitis or abscess formation would be concerns and require an examination & treatment by a physician.
