A member asked:

How long after sex is a pregnancy test accurate if you have a irregular period?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

About 2 weeks. It takes a few days for the sperm to seek out & combine with an egg in the Fallopian tubes. It takes a few for any conception to travel to and attach inside the uterus. It takes a few more for that mass of cells to create the hormones that turn a test positive. In general it is about 2 weeks. Tests are more often falsely negative when done early but turn positive later.
