A member asked:

I'm 30.5 weeks pregnant. i don't have gd at all(i had to do two hour test). i eat dessert almost every night and have one sugar in my tea (s). some days i have a mug and half of orange pekoe tea. does eating sugar cause a big baby ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

not particularly: Baby makes its own insulin starting in early pregnancy. If your blood sugar is higher than normal, it does cross over & baby puts it away as fat or enlarged organs. If your glucose level is normal, it stays at a normal level in spite of your diet & baby grows normally.
