Can you tell me how long does it take to remove wisdom teeth?

Wisdom teeth removal: The time needed to remove wisdom teeth will be a personal call by your dentist. Each dentist has their own scheduling for each procedure. An oral surgeon would also have his own time frame for scheduling. It will also depend on the difficulty of the extractions.

5-20 minutes: Most oral surgeons can remove wisdom teeth very efficiently. A general dentist may take much longer. Make sure you see an experienced oral & maxillofacial surgeon.

Varies: The amount of time varies based on the difficulty of the extraction, and really does not matter as long as the procedure is completed correctly and painlessly. An oral surgeon is trained to remove even the toughest of teeth in a matter of minutes.

A 31-year-old member asked:
Please tell me how long it takes for to heal from getting your wisdom teeth out?

Depends: Depends on what was done and your home care. If they were simple extractions then you will notice a clot in a few days and some closure forming in a week or two. If it was surgical than healing will take longer, especially if bone was removed, but sutures will help with the closure. Warm salt water rinses really help healing. Having an oral surgeon do the work will lessen the trauma in most cases.

How long does it take for the bottom wisdom teeth to grow?

A long time: Tooth development and growth occurs over many years, starting out as a bud of tissue in the bone. For many people, wisdom teeth may begin erupting into the mouth during the early teen years, while others may have wisdom teeth that remain impacted due to space or position problems. Panoramic x-rays can provide information on the stage of development of your wisdom teeth.

Please tell me how long it takes for to recuperate after extracting all 4 wisdom teeth?

Varies: Responding and recovery from surgery varies from patient to patient. Some patients undergoing the removal of 4 impacted wisdom teeth rebound and continue with their normal activities as if they had not had surgery. Another patient may undergo a simple uncomplicated extraction of a single tooth and feel incapacitated for several days. Plan on taking it easy for the first two to three days postop.

A 18-year-old female asked:
How long does it take for wisdom teeth to come through?

Start at age 18...: As a rule, the third molars (wisdom teeth) erupt between the ages of 18 and 25. But, as in all things in medicine, the bell curve of averages includes those as young as 14 and, in my experience, those as old as their 40s. Some erupt completely; some only partially erupt (highly prone to infection: decay and gum disease); and some never erupt. Full eruption of a tooth can take a couple months.
