Odd statement: In the USA where most of this sites volunteer reviewers are based one can start prenatal care as soon as the know they are pregnant. A discussion of diet & lifestyle, family genetic traits, worries about outcome are all important. This may a locality based practice. I would look for a 2nd opinion & go where you feel comfortable.
