Depends...: The first step in treating any pain is to diagnose what the pain is from. So, finding out where the pain is located, what it feels like, is it constant or intermittent, what makes it better or worse, etc. is all part of the evaluation you need. Then, once a diagnosis is made, treatment options can be discussed. Alcohol is not a good choice for pain relief so see your doctor for evaluation.

Excellent question: Chronic pain needs to be fully evaluated and an established pain generator needs to be uncovered. Not unusual for a multitude of wrong diagnoses in this category. In my experience, an eventual answer with appropriate therapy can be achieved. Maybe start here at HT with a virtual consult?
