Adverse effects: Elavil commonly causes side effect of drowsiness, and is usually taken at bedtime to handle this. Alcohol is also a sedative, and sufficient amounts would provide drug-drug interactional impact with Elavil, which would indeed create hazard to drive, or use power equipment. Common advice is to avoid alcohol when taking Elavil.
