I had a pap smear and have been bleeding for a week now. i'll fill up 2-3 pads in 5-10 minutes, the pads are saturated and heavy with blood. then i'll spot for a few hours and it will happen again. i was not due for my period. what could cause this?

Trauma: If these symptoms followed a recent pap smear, trauma to the cervix.may be the problem. I recommend having a speculum examination of the vagina and cervix by your gynecologist.
