Onychomycosis: See your doctor or podiatrist. Most people do not seem to have a lot of success with over the counter products. Your doctor may prescribe an oral or topical antifungal, and you will likely have to treat it for many months as fungal nails take a long time to grow out.

You need medication: Toenail fungus is very resistant to treatment. It takes many months to clear up with treatment. Typically, oral medication is the best. Sometimes, topical medication can work for less severe cases. In really severe cases, the toenail may need to be removed along with oral medication treatment.
