A member asked:

Why would a period get heavier? mine isnt abnormally heavy, but heavier than it was. started 2 yrs ago at 33. had ultrasound and exam done, and doctor said it all looked normal. what causes the change? low hormone bc? same for 5 years?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hormonal changes: Your doctor can prescribe pills that can limit your period to once a year. You would not need to worry about excessive blood loss. Take oral iron and multivitamins to prevent anemia. Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.
