A member asked:

I have had my ears pierced for over 40 years, so why do they hurt to wear earrings most of the time? i have to use neosporin to get them in, no swelling or redness, just feel sore! what can i do to stop this? is there anything i can use to help?

See dermatologist: There is a chance that you have developed an allergy to a component of the type of earring that you wear. Quite it is a metal such as Nickel. There might also be a perfume/hair product that produces this problem. suggest that you see a dermatologist for eval and tx of this problem. I suggest that you try an healing ointment like Aquaphor instead of neosporin. Small amts of scar tissue is possible
