A member asked:

I have persistent stabbing chest pain by my heart. was initially diagnosed with acute pericarditis but 5 weeks later the pain is still there. blood tests are normal, echo was normal, ecg showed a bit of pericarditis. what next?

Sharp chest pains : Your chest pain can be an injury to muscles or it can be inflammation of the cartilage known as costochondritis. Heart burn from acid reflux can cause these symptoms. Chronic pericarditis is less likely as echo was normal. Lung can also cause sharp chest pain if there is a problem of infection, blood clot or pleurisy. Mostly there is simple explanation for similar long term pain.see your doctor.
