A member asked:

My mouth has been hurting recently, and i have never had a cavity. but i have always had sensitive teeth and have always grinded them in my sleep. my dentist has showed any concern about either though. could either of those be causing my tooth pain?

Certainly: Carious lesions can cause pain, but only in one tooth or on the affected quadrant. If all of your teeth hurt, then it would be something common to all of the teeth, such as periodontal issues (doubtful at your age), clenchng/grinding (bruxism), or a malocclusion (crooked teeth). Sinus issues can cause pain in your maxillary dentition.

Both: Time to have a discussion about your occlusion (do you need an Orthodontist) and your parafunctional grinding habit (do you need a mouth Guard). If you are grinding your teeth, and if that is causing gum recession and sensitivity that needs remediation (do you need a Periodontist).
