RV size?: Pulmonary valve insufficiency is common after surgery or balloon valvuloplasty for pulmonary valve stenosis. The most reliable sign predicting the severity of the insufficiency is the size of the right ventricle. If the right ventricle is normal in size or mildly increased, nothing need be done except follow-up. If the right ventricle becomes severely enlarged, valve replacement is required.
