A member asked:

Thank you doctors. i am trying to avoid a yeast infection. is cephalexin absolutely needed for a burn that has clusters of red, raised mini bubbles that oozes out yellow liquid or will silvadene be enough?

Yeast and antibiotic: If your doctor has prescribed cephalexin, take it as directed. Under-treated infection in a burn is more serious and potentially dangerous than a vaginal yeast infection. If you're prone to yeast infections e.g with previous antibiotic treatments, just be prepared to treat it if yeast symptoms appear, e.g. with an "azole" vaginal treatment; or single dose fluconazole by mouth.
