A member asked:

How long gynaecomastia last? if i get gynaecomastia on one breast due to injury, how long it last? i got when i was 12 now i'm 17. still it's there. what to do? will it disappear after puberty or surgery required for that one breast?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Some thoughts: Gynecomastia resulting from or maintained during pubertal changes would likely fade within 3 yrs. Persistence after that point may require surgery. I have read that some docs have successfully treated this with with a drug called tamoxifen.I would consult with a surgeon who specializes in breast surgury at this point.
