High AM sugar: You don't mention whether you have type 1 or 2 diabetes, whether you're on insulin, or if you're prone to hypoglycemic episodes secondary to medication. Diabetics whose blood sugar may drop precipitously during sleep will see a release of adrenaline causing the sugar to rise. Another possibility is diabetic medication effect wearing off after bedtime. Your own MD can advise you best.
