MORE INFO...: It'd be helpful to know more about your son--his age, health, how long is the symptoms, environment, habits, activities, diet, etc., etc. to narrow down some helpful tips. Please re-submit your question. Meanwhile, since you are in ZA it's a hotter season--he may be dehydrated, then drink water. Another cause of dry/sore throat is acid reflux/GERD. Or if he breathes through mouth... Many reasons!
