Bee sting : This description does not seem like a normal bee sting reaction. See a doctor.

Pretty normal : Some people won’t have any redness or swelling after a sting just pain. But he is having a large local reaction. Not as serious as an allergy with hives and hand swelling or other systemic symptoms. I would try several doses of Benadryl to decrease the swelling. If the stinger is still in there, it needs to come out. If he has pain or red streaking or increased purple, you need to see an MD.
