A member asked:

Is temperature screening a good indicator of covid-19 in kids? i thought kids are generally asymptomatic if infected...

Use what you have: Yes kids are often asymptomatic and detection of covid 19 would require a covid test. We now know that kids are not the super spreaders we once thought they would be. However, covid is not the only illness that kids can spread and temperature screening does make sense in reducing illness in a population. You use what is available unless you want to spent the time & money for testing.

COVID 19: Agree with Dr. Ferguson. Although you can use temperature as one piece of information, children can develop fevers for many reasons. They might not develop a fever even if infected with COVID 19.
