I am prescribed pain med for chronic hip and back pain have a history of cancer with surg and chemo. over 70 yoa i do drink occasionally. dr wants to do a urine test to cont pain meds. how long should i stop drinking before the test?

Drinking/ pain meds: Sound like the doctor wants you to do a drug test. Drinking alcohol and taking pain medications raises concerns that a patient has an addictive personality and all along never needed the pain medication. This may not apply to you but applies to many patients. Most likely if it is true the patient's ego would not allow them to accept it and so the patient continues in the habit.
