Have trouble breathing most of the time. heart starts thumping and my body jerks with each pulse. it lasts a few seconds, then breathing is normal for while. this happens now when i am just sitting watching tv or sewing, etc?

Palpitations: As was previously mentioned, I feel you're experiencing a cardiac arrhythmia, most likely recurrent premature beats. I recommend that you wear an outpatient Holter Monitor for 24-48 hours and note on the diary when you feel palpitations. The monitor will demonstrate any abnormalities of heart rate or rhythm and your cardiologist can then advise you.
